Investing in security is investing in the future – how Visma Sign ensures data protection and reliability

Visma’s operations are built on trust. Our customers rely on us to ensure that the systems they use work reliably and securely.

The importance of data security has been emphasised across the Visma Group for years. Even though the group consists of over 200 independent companies, we share a unified view: our customers’ data must always be protected.

To achieve this, Visma has developed its own Visma Security Program — a group-wide data security framework used by most Visma companies to ensure the strong security of their products.

All Visma Solutions products are part of the Visma Application Security Program, a monitoring and evaluation system designed specifically for cloud services.
Through this program, data security is analysed from multiple perspectives, providing each product with a clear target level and a real-time security status. The program is built using industry best practices and globally recognised security frameworks.

At Visma Solutions, we’ve placed special focus on security and service availability — especially over the past few years, as more and more businesses have moved to trusted cloud platforms.

Since March 2022, I have served as Visma Solutions’ Head of Security and Data Protection, working closely with our product development teams to ensure that we build security in a long-term, sustainable way.

A safe and reliable Visma Sign

We continuously develop our services — not only by introducing new features, but also by improving the security and reliability of existing ones.

Much of this work happens behind the scenes, invisible to users. However, some updates introduce visible improvements, such as enhanced security mechanisms or brand-new functionality.

The core security principles of Visma Sign have been built into the service from the start — including encrypted document storage on our servers and strong authentication for all signature processes.

Visma Sign supports strong authentication methods for users in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands, expanding secure signing internationally.

Comprehensive security with Visma Sign

Many of our features also allow customers to create their own security-enhancing workflows. It’s always rewarding to see how creatively organisations use Visma Sign to strengthen their internal processes.

For example, many companies use Visma Sign web forms as part of their KYC (Know Your Customer) processes or to verify the identity of individuals submitting GDPR data requests.

Over the past year, we’ve closely monitored global cybersecurity developments and conducted regular checks and precautions to protect our services from potential cyberattacks. This ongoing work ensures operational continuity in any situation.

Alongside collaboration with our data centre providers, we’ve also made internal preparations to ensure that customer support and essential services remain available even in case of temporary power outages.

Strict security standards for partners

To provide reliable services, Visma naturally works with a range of trusted partners and subcontractors, both domestic and international. These include data centre providers whose expertise is vital in ensuring service continuity.

All Visma subcontractors undergo the Visma Vendor Management process, which assesses their ability to meet data protection and information security obligations — as well as their environmental and sustainability commitments.
